TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) — Experts at the Broome County Regional Farmer’s Market Bridal Show have some tips on how local brides can save on their big day.

Bride-to-be Krista St.John is getting married in July and says there’s a lot you have to factor in when it comes to wedding planning. That includes the dress, venue, florist and cake. to name a few.

She raised concern over the price of a wedding, saying, “We certainly don’t want to spend a million dollars on a wedding.”

Vendors at the local bridal show provided some tips to make that hope a reality.

Coordinator for Gance’s Complete Catering, Andy Maslar, says brides should take advantage of places that offer more than one service. Adding, Gance’s will not only cater your event, but also provide items like linens and flatware.

He encourages couples to book venues in advance as often they will give a discount. He also suggests considering different meal options like buffet or plated dinner, according to your budget.

Ever After Bridal Owner Taylor Mallow says test out unconventional dress options. She suggested buying a bridesmaids dress in ivory to reduce cost.

“It’s a great decision for brides who have lower budgets, they don’t want anything too extravagant, but they still want to feel beautiful on their wedding day and want to wear that white dress,” said Mallow.

Mallow also suggests wedding dress payment plans.

“A lot of times brides come in, they expect that if their budget is $2,000 we need that $2,000 down that day, we only need 50 percent to order,” she said.
