Married at First Sight NZ: 2017 contestants offer advice, warnings
As the new season of Married at First Sight New Zealand draws close, show veterans have some advice for the newbies.
Speaking to Woman’s Day, Lacey Swanepoel who married Luke Cederman on the 2017 edition of the reality series, said it was key to go in with “an open mind and a good sense of humour because it’s a struggle if you can’t laugh at yourself”.
“And if you need to have a difficult conversation, practise it with someone who isn’t on TV first – if they react like you’re crazy, pick another approach!”

Fellow 2017 alumni Vicky Gleeson-Stokes, who wed Andrew Jury, also offered words of warning.
“Don’t expect to be happy straight away and don’t expect the person you’re matched with to be your Prince Charming because he probably won’t be.”
Ben Blackwell, who married Aaron Chisholm, agreed that participants should “go in there with the lowest of expectations, then the only way is up”.
All of them, who had gathered along with Claire Lawless and Haydn Daniels for a one-year anniversary celebration of their time on the show, said they would likely watch the new season most probably with, Gleeson-Stokes admitted, “a strong drink”.
